THE CHURCH ACCORDING TO GOOGLE

Have you ever Googled the word “Church?  I just did, so I’ll save you the time.

My first result was to Wikipedia, in which “church” is defined as this…

  • Church (building), a physical structure used for religious activities
  • Local church, the body made up of a congregation, its members and clergy
  • State church, a religious body or creed officially endorsed by government
  • Church service, a formalized period of communal worship
  • Christian clergy, formal Christian religious leadership
  • Interesting.  No mention of a global collection of believers.  Maybe I need to add “The” to the beginning of “Church.”  That just leads me to the webpage of the band of The Church… not The Band but a band called The Church… which is also not the official band of the official church.

Again, no mention of a global collection of believers.

So finally, I googled “The Body of Christ” and found this website.

At least somebody understands what we’re talking about here.  Check it out.
